Asrpo Park, one of the largest players in the European Amusement Industry, has a 31-amusement park portfolio: water parks, zoos, amusement parks, botanical gardens and dolphinarium. Moreover, this company employs more than 3.000 workers scattered across the European Union: United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Switzerland, Portugal, Austria, and Spain.

This multinational entrusts Rocas & Design with multiple theming interventions included in their update and renovation plan for Aqualand Maspalomas, in the Canary Islands.

Description: This turnkey project has required the involvement of Rocas & Design's every department, playing a key role the Illustration, Project Management and Structure Calculation departments. Concept design was born as a result of comprehensive and progressive work taking into consideration the technical demands of this project and, simultaneously, being closely coordinated with production in view of the amount of structural elements incorporated within this project. Once the production results are finished, Project Management undertakes then the task of translating concept designs into reality in order to reach thereby high levels of realism.

With more than 15,000 m2 of themed surface and more than 20% of sculpted pavement, numerous are the manufactured and constructed elements used as decoration and props for this park. Props, planters, sculpted pavement, lazy river, wave pool, retail area, shade area, perimeter wall, and signage comprise part of the most iconic elements, standing out from the rest the production and installation of a stranded 18-m Spanish galleon as well as the construction of multiple buildings. Another iconic themed element is the themed slide tower with colonial ruin touches from which two black-hole slides start to flow into a boomerang run-off slide.

Materials: sprayed concrete, wood, ribbed mesh, thixotropic mortar, curing agents, metal profiling, expanded polystyrene, two-component alifatic polyurethane, and polyurea.

Techniques: sculpting, structure calculation, waterproofing, welding and CNC cutting.

Finishing: historic and Caribbean colonial.

Lead time: 9 months.
